Volunteers’ Week is an annual event held in the first week of June. The event both showcases the diverse range of volunteering opportunities available, as well as thanks all of the hard work put in by millions of volunteers throughout the country.
Volunteers' Week consists of recruitment events, challenges, awards ceremonies and volunteering campaigns, with events taking place up and down the country.
Everyone is invited to join this national celebration of volunteers and volunteering, take a look at the Volunteers' Week Web Site
Take a look at how our volunteers have benefitted from volunteering with Roots
How our volunteers have been getting involved:
"I have been volunteering for 2 years; I first started volunteering at The Fold and then joined Roots. Through volunteering with Roots I got involved with onside advocacy where I received training as a mentor, I also have volunteered with age UK home from hospital service, where I assisted elderly people in their homes after returning from hospital and helped with the fundraising team at events. In a different role I joined the team at the YMCA and worked on their allotment. I have gained a lot of skills and experience since volunteering which will help me in the future in looking for jobs. In the future I would maybe like to get involved in volunteering with animals or something in sculpture making."
"I have been volunteering with roots for almost 8 months now and have taken part in lots of enjoyable activities such as helping out at the nature trail by the fold in bransford, helping with the educational workshops by aiding the sessions at Regency high school and many other occasions which allow me to help the community in fun and unique ways. In the future I am looking forward to helping out at regency high school again and with next years wattfest in March."
