We will be creating a video of Roots volunteers spelling out “Earth Hour 2012 – Roots” with candles, promoting the Earth Hour message in a striking way. We ask anybody who is interested to come down and show support of Roots, with the opportunity to help achieve our goal.
Earth Hour is a huge annual environmental event; where people, businesses, even governments agree to turn off their lights for 1hour at the same time, to promote action on climate change. Started by the WWF, Earth Hour is about “appreciating the brilliant world we all share – and how we need to protect it. Not just for an hour a year, but every day.”
More than 5,200 cities and towns in 135 countries worldwide switched off their lights for Earth Hour in 2011, causing people to go Beyond the Hour and commit to lasting action for the planet. Last year showed what message can be sent when people unite for a common cause, and Worcester Roots want to help continue the success this year.
Anyone who wants to join in with this Worldwide environmental message should meet us at 8pm Brickfields, on 31st of March.
