Rhys, Cate , Adele, and Rebekah joined almost one hundred other bold souls at Top Barn Activity Centre in Holt Heath to attempt the walk. Each volunteer braved temperatures of over four hundred degrees Celsius(!) and performed the daredevil stunt twice, raising almost five hundred pounds in the process.
Tash Giaquinto, Roots’ project manager, who also participated in the walk, stated: “it was an amazing experience for me on a personal level, but the best thing was seeing Roots’ young volunteers pushing themselves to do something so outrageous. I am proud of all the young people that volunteer with Worcester Roots, but this group really did us proud and raised nearly five hundred pounds for the charity.”
All the sponsorship money gained will be reinvested into Worcester Roots to help young people within the local area, with an emphasis on upcoming youth events and environmental causes.
The firewalk was the culmination of a great day out organised by The Joanna Brown Trust, another local charity aimed at increasing participation in Sport. Worcester Roots would like to thank everyone who was involved in the organisation and sponsorship of the event, which helped raise money for such good causes.
