But my little possums, there was no time to dream. Our old chum and fellow womble Rhys blessed us with his presence today. After arriving at the Nature Trail, and having a cuppa, Emma, Maria and Rhys's first job to do was to alter the holes ready for the post. Meanwhile, in a humble little cabin elsewhere, Jack and I were vibrating away like no ones business. We were preparing the post by drilling some holes into them, if you must know.
Emma came over to tell me that Dawn and her husband John had arrived and were with Maria on the trail, So I left Emma to finish off Jack's wood and I went over to greet them.
I sent the Three Stooges, Dawn, Maria and John over to the far end of the track to widen the path. Rhys and I filled in the Tyre steps with some wood and chippings, I pulled back the flaps and he filled them in. I take no pride in saying that he got more down my trousers than he did the steps.
Emma had to shoot off early this week, for a girls gathering in Wembley you see. But no fear, three of Roots most handsome trustees were left in charge, Rhys, Jack and I had everything under control. We stayed till about 4 o'clock and I can tell you now that after some angry hammer throwing, a wheelbarrow race and some rather witty wood drilling innuendo’s, we decided it was best we packed up. It had just started to spit too, but at least it had held off for most of the day.
We bid a sad farewell to the Three Stooges, then tottered up to the café ourselves and sat in the rain to await our taxi, like three old timers in gods waiting room.
Some people might say that we're mature, but I still laugh when a ketchup bottle farts!
