Rich: Last week at the fold Emma and a few of our volunteers came together to make some traps for the nature trail which involved putting paint on each side of a used recycled Pringles container. Food would then be placed inside to lure small mammals; this would leave small foot prints to identify for our survey.
Ryan: This Friday I was very excited to get to the fold, the day before myself and Emma had put in some Pringle tubes with feed in with paint at the entrances, I wanted to see if anything had gone in and left any foot prints.
Rich: We found successful results from our paint traps, the data was collected from our volunteers and taken back to roots HQ
Ryan: We were also joined by Robyn's sister, Elizabeth today and she came with me to help identify our findings, sadly there wasn't too much to see but a few dots but we did find some small footprints possibly of a mouse or a shrew.
Rich: The rest of the group carried on with food coop orders before stopping for lunch. Rich, Jack and Sophie went to collect food co-op from the farm and allotment harvesting runner beans, potatoes and beetroots, even though it was raining this proved no challenge for our volunteers!
Ryan: After, as we had no access to tools , there wasn't much for us to do so myself and Sophie did some litter picking and then we all went up by the lake to skim stones and even a water fight before packing up to come home.
Jon and Rich took some great photos today of us all working hard or hardly working. A very productive couple of weeks, well done everyone!
