To celebrate International Biodiversity Day and to help us understand the ecology on our Nature Trail, our volunteers undertook surveys to find out what creatures and critters were living on the site.
We composed our own biodiversity research into our new nature trail.
We feel it’s important to be conducting this research to see what habitats we are providing, and it’s interesting to see how diverse the ecosystem may be!
We started by placing cups into the ground to inspect the bug life our nature trail provides. We placed wood chip and leaves to make sure there was enough shade and that they were protected from water.
We also conducted research into plant life; it proved to be a great learning experience understanding the small distinctions between one species and another!
