The Social Enterprise, first started as a food coop, set up buy a young volunteer to help promote and raise awareness about locally grown produce. We teamed up with a local care farm who would provide us with fresh produce each each week. We then send out an email, with a list of all available produce to our customers. Once they make their orders, our volunteers harvest the produce ready to be picked up. Recently we started a delivery service and in the future we would like to purchase a trike to help with deliveries.
As part of our future development we would like to reach more customers groups such as the elderly, university students and people in full time work. There are plans to expand our products such as looking into making preserves and pickles and even sourcing local meat. With this we would like to offer volunteer days out on care farms where our young volunteers can learn more about local foods and growing them.
We would like to expand on the services we offer our customers such as team building days outside on the farm for work groups. Currently our customer spay by cash or or card. We would like to expand on the different payment methods to suit different groups and build up our customer base. These are just some of the plans we have to develop Root To Reuse into a self sustaining social enterprise. A business plan has already been put together. For the sub-group the next stage would be to look into building links with other care farms and growers around Worcester, to source more produce and look into expanding our customer base.
