As part of our Educational Toolkit project, our volunteers went to Regency High School, Worcester, to deliver a workshop on reducing waste, including:
- Reducing food waste
- Reducing packaging waste
- Exploring alternatives to throwing away in landfill
Take a look at the [Worcester Newspaper] for more details!
All in all there was a lot going on, and some great activities to learn about a more environmentally-friendly, lower-waste lifestyle.
Here's what everyone had to say:
"We were part of the day's activities which also included a workshop from Love Food Hate Waste about composting and recycled art activities. Our young volunteers had worked really hard on designing and preparing the waste session, and did a great job of delivering the workshop and really engaged with the students." ~ Tash, Charity Director
"I really enjoyed my experience at Regency High School, being part of Roots. It felt great getting the younger community involved in acting in ways to reduce waste. I learned a lot about presenting to an educational environment and helping with the activities." ~ Rich, Volunteer
"The first class was toughest, it was the biggest group and the first time we had delivered this particular session. It went well, the kids loved the activities and engaged very well. Well done to all our volunteers who worked very hard and did a great job in delivering the sessions." ~ Ryan, Volunteer
"The students definitely enjoyed our 'Rooty Tooty Chair' activity, and their creations were very impressive! The teachers thanked us for the day and said the resources would be great to use again" ~ Tash, Charity Director
"The students were engaged in the hands-on crafty activities, and we received positive feedback. There were also workshops on pizza making, seed planting and drumming" ~ Heidi, Volunteer
"The workshop went very well, everybody worked superbly and the activities ran smoothly, with the children interacting and giving good answers. We got everybody involved and made each task a joint team effort, and the children learned a lot.
I would fully recommend that others get involved in these workshops and give it a go!" ~ Rich, Volunteer
"Our volunteers adapted well to the challenges they faced during the session, making alterations to timings on the spot to suit the needs of the students. Well done everybody, you did me proud as always" ~ Tash, Charity Director
