In partnership with the University of Worcester to encourage sustainable food, we're delighted to be working on our very own allotment to supplement the supply of produce for our food co-op!
The allotment is located at Worcester University, and there are 6 beds (each roughly 5m x 5m), with another one to be used by volunteers later in the future.
What are we growing?
In each bed we are cultivating different fruit/veg, including:
- Spinach, chard and salad leaves
- Raspberries, blackcurrants and strawberries,
- Celery, peas and beans
- Tomatoes and brassicas (cauliflower, cabbages, sprouts and purple sprouting)
- Red, white and spring onions, shallots and leeks
We will be now be able to expand our food co-op to bring our customers even more delicious fruit and veg, as well as teach young people the value of growing their own food, help promote sustainable food production in the community, and engage students on actively maintaining the area for wildlife!
We hope to bring you some new produce very soon, so keep your eyes on our Food Co-op page for some new items on our list :)
